Assessment and development prospects of tourism potential, taking into account the economic characteristics of the region
Current global conditions have made inbound tourism less attractive to the vast majority of Russians. Consequently, there is an urgent need for a system to evaluate the potential of the tourism industry within the economic framework of individual regions. In an era of globalization, shifting economic models, and various environmental and social challenges, these regions face a unique set of issues. Russia’s vast territory, abundant natural resources, and diverse climate provide a strong foundation for the development of the tourism sector. Therefore, the primary strategic objective for developing the tourism sector in the Russian Federation is to organize the leisure industry and diversify its offerings in a way that maximizes the number of travelers—by engaging all segments of the population, while taking their specific social characteristics into account.
