Аннотация: The article is devoted to the process of punctuation simplification, which is noted in the British and American scientific texts of the twentieth century. The author points out new tendencies in the comma that have emerged and developed during the previous century, and also explains the reasons for their occurrence. The abundance of tendencies that lead to the omission of the comma in many cases indicates the simplification of punctuation in the scientific texts of the two variants of the English language.
