Аннотация: The article discusses the features of the implementation of the concept of "disease" in E.Poe's novella "The Fall of the House of Usher" as a key concept of the organization of a Gothic work. The boundaries and their blurring are considered when comparing the realities of everyday and unreal spaces. The topos of "madness" in the novel becomes a two-dimensional space in which the interaction of the infernal and real worlds takes place, which are cyclical in chronotopic terms.
