Concept «хозяин» and the ways of its representation in the English language

The article is devoted to the contrastive analysis of the concept «хозяин». In the course of the research work the ways of translating it into English were analyzed, thus the two English equivalents “master”, “owner” and “host” were chosen as approximate equivalents of the Russian lexeme. It was revealed that the English language lacks a word which could fully convey the meaning carried by the word «хозяин».
